Lloyds Banking Group has announced that it will gradually remove the Halifax brand from its operations in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

This change will begin in early 2027 when signs are removed from 190 locations; however, the group emphasized that there will be no branch closures or job losses due to this change.

After changing its structure in the 1990s and merging with the Bank of Scotland in 2001, the company suffered during the 2008 financial crisis. This led to a government-supported takeover by Lloyds Banking Group, which involved £20 billion in public money. Furthermore, the brand's image was damaged by later reports of serious misconduct at its Reading branch.

This rebranding happens as CEO Charlie Nunn finishes a five-year plan focused on digital banking services.
