India has reduced the retail prices of several energy products, including commercial LPG, aviation fuel, and private-sector auto fuels, after global oil markets became more stable.

These price changes are based on improved diplomatic relations between the United States and Iran. Reports emphasize that negotiations in Qatar and a new 14-point agreement have helped restore shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. Consequently, the prices of Brent crude and West Texas Intermediate oil have dropped to around $73 and $70 per barrel, while Iranian oil exports have increased significantly after the US ended its naval blockade.

In the domestic market, Nayara Energy, the largest private fuel retailer, lowered petrol prices by ₹5 per litre and diesel by ₹3 per litre across its 7,000 stations. This move reverses the price increases the company made in March during the height of the conflict. However, public sector oil companies, which control over 90% of the market, have kept petrol and diesel prices the same. This is because state-run refineries need to recover previous losses and the government wants to regain fiscal spending estimated at ₹1.23 lakh crore.

Additionally, there were price cuts in the LPG and aviation sectors. Public companies reduced the price of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders by ₹183.50, while 5-kg cylinders decreased by ₹13. Meanwhile, aviation turbine fuel (ATF) for domestic airlines was reduced by ₹5 per litre. This follows a government decision in April to prevent a massive price jump by implementing a gradual 25% increase for scheduled airlines, although non-scheduled operators still faced higher costs.
