Instead of saying "The person is accused, but he denies it," the text uses:
"Although the accused person has denied these claims, the police have asked other participants..."
Coach's Tip: Use Although at the start of your sentence to introduce a fact that doesn't stop the second part of the sentence from happening. It makes your writing sound fluid and professional.
2. The 'Direct Opposite': In contrast
When the author wants to switch from talking about Channel 4 (who are worried) to CPL (who are confident), they use:
*"In contrast, the production company... claims its systems are of a 'gold standard'."
Coach's Tip: Use In contrast when you are comparing two different people or companies. It is like a signpost telling the reader: "Now I am talking about the opposite side."
3. Adding New Information: Furthermore
While not a contrast, this is a B2 "power word" found in the text:
*"Furthermore, the network temporarily removed the show..."
Stop using "and" or "also" to start every sentence. Furthermore is the academic way to say "and here is another important point."
