Global health organizations and different countries are working together to provide medical help in Venezuela after several powerful earthquakes. At the same time, Türkiye is sharing its disaster management methods with the international community.

The humanitarian situation in Venezuela is currently very difficult. After two earthquakes on June 24, about 2,300 people died and over 11,000 were injured. This health crisis is even worse because the country's medical system had already collapsed due to an economic crisis starting in 2013 and the fact that one-third of doctors have left the country. Consequently, experts from the EU Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC) have warned that infectious diseases could spread quickly because of poor sanitation and crowded shelters. To help, the United States sent 900 military personnel and $300 million in aid, while the European Union promised €5 million. However, the UN Development Programme estimates that damages total $6.7 billion, meaning there is still a huge gap in funding.

Meanwhile, Türkiye is using its experience in disaster response to help other nations. During a World Health Organization (WHO) conference in Istanbul, Turkish officials emphasized the importance of building a strong and prepared health system. They highlighted new technologies, such as the GÖKBEY ambulance helicopter and the National Medical Rescue Teams (UMKE), as key examples of their success. Türkiye has also created a 'Public Health Services in Earthquakes Guide' that other countries can use. To show this commitment, Türkiye sent UMKE units to Venezuela, demonstrating a desire to help other states overcome their system failures by sharing professional knowledge.

While Venezuela struggles with a severe health emergency and a lack of resources, Türkiye is establishing itself as a leading expert in disaster management and technical support.
