There has been a significant increase in air attacks, starting with a massive Russian strike on Kyiv and followed by similar attacks on infrastructure in both countries.

The situation became more intense on Thursday when Russia launched a coordinated attack on Kyiv using 496 drones and 74 missiles. This attack caused at least 30 deaths and around 100 injuries, damaging 130 buildings. Important losses included a Red Cross warehouse with 320,000 relief items and the National Institute of Biochemistry. The Ukrainian Air Force emphasized that the high number of casualties happened because they lacked enough Patriot missiles to stop the ballistic projectiles.

In response, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy asserted that the destruction was caused by delays in receiving air defense systems from international partners. Consequently, he stated that getting anti-ballistic weapons will be a main topic at the next NATO summit in Turkey. Furthermore, the European Union, through foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas, has suggested adding more sanctions against companies that support the Russian military industry.

At the same time, both sides have continued to attack each other. Ukrainian forces targeted Russian oil refineries and energy sites in the Nizhny Novgorod and Belgorod regions, as well as a bridge in Crimea to disrupt Russian logistics. Meanwhile, Russian forces attacked the Sumy and Dnipropetrovsk regions, causing more civilian casualties. The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed these operations were responses to Ukrainian attacks inside Russian territory.
