Recent attacks on cargo ships and fighting between Houthi rebels and government forces show that these groups are still causing instability, despite the ceasefire between the US and Iran.

The MoU is only a temporary agreement, as the most difficult issues regarding nuclear weapons and sanctions will be discussed during a 60-day negotiation period. Additionally, there is a disagreement over whether Iran should charge fees for ships passing through the strait, which would go against international maritime law.
