The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust is currently facing a period of administrative change and legal investigation after claims that donations at the Ram temple in Ayodhya were stolen.

This led to the resignations of General Secretary Champat Rai and trustee Anil Mishra, who stated they felt morally responsible for these errors. Although the SIT has extended its investigation through July and police are continuing their work, no formal charges have been filed against Rai, Mishra, or Gopal Rao so far.

Employees pointed out that there are no official service rules or salary structures for the 1,500 non-priestly staff, which raises concerns about how staff are hired and promoted. In response, Treasurer Govind Dev Giri emphasized that the Trust's audit reports are accurate. He explained that local trustees manage the daily counting of donations using procedures developed with the State Bank of India. Furthermore, Giri stated that he does not handle the physical counting because he lives in Pune and relies on professional accountants for financial reviews.

Maulana Sajid Rashidi claimed that the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has lacked transparency regarding funds collected in the past. On the other hand, VHP President Alok Kumar has asked authorities to call opposition leaders, such as Priyanka Gandhi and Sanjay Singh, to provide evidence for their claims that over 20,000 crore rupees were stolen. He suggested that legal action should be taken if these claims are proven to be false.

The Trust is now waiting for a final meeting to decide whether to accept the resignations and to discuss a new management structure, which may include appointing a Chief Executive Officer.
