The Islamic Republic of Iran is holding a week of state funeral ceremonies for the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in a joint US-Israeli airstrike on February 28.

These locations were chosen to highlight the leader's influence over Shia Muslims across borders. Furthermore, the government has used religious symbols and Quranic verses to present the assassination as a reason for religious duty and revenge.

Official sources claim this is due to security risks from Israel, whereas internal reports suggest he was seriously injured during the February strike. Consequently, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has become more visible during the ceremonies, suggesting that the military may be gaining more power.

This statement led to a formal complaint from the Iranian embassy in Armenia, which questioned the honor of the United States. At the same time, the Iranian government has used the funerals to show national unity and resilience against foreign interference.
