Representative Jasmine Crockett from Texas recently shared her criticisms of how the Democratic Party interacts with Black voters and the support that Black women deserve from the government.

While speaking at the Essence Festival of Black Culture in New Orleans, Representative Crockett argued that the Democratic Party focuses too much on winning over White voters. She emphasized that critical issues, such as Black maternal health and job instability for Black women, are not being prioritized. To fix this, Crockett suggested that the party should establish a basic set of requirements to ensure that the humanity of Black citizens is always respected.

In this regard, she criticized some 'White leftists' for focusing on single issues instead of the immediate needs of people who rely on government services. She urged the party to engage more directly with marginalized groups and encourage more participation in local government.

However, her claims that American democracy is currently in a dangerous position caused a lot of negative reactions on social media. Crockett described this backlash as part of a larger pattern of disrespect toward Black women. It is also noted that Crockett will not run for her current seat again after her district was redrawn and she lost a primary election for a U.S. Senate seat to James Talarico.
