Samsung Electronics has released an early earnings report showing a significant increase in operating profits for the second quarter of this year.

This financial growth is caused by a gap between the supply of memory chips and the high global demand for artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure. Samsung expects operating profits of 89 trillion won from April to June, which is a nineteen-fold increase. Total sales are projected to reach 171 trillion won, more than double the revenue from the same period last year. This success was supported by the company's decision to raise chip prices while supply remained limited.

此次財務增長是由於記憶體晶片供應量與全球對人工智慧（AI）基礎設施的高需求之間存在差距。三星預計 4 月至 6 月的營業利潤將達到 89 兆韓圓，增長了 19 倍。總銷售額預計將達到 171 兆韓圓，較去年同期增長一倍以上。這次成功得益於公司在供應有限的情況下決定提高晶片價格。

Experts emphasize that the current demand for data center components is the highest in the history of the memory industry. However, this has led to a shortage of semiconductors for consumer electronics. Consequently, the South Korean government has announced a plan to invest over $880 billion to increase domestic manufacturing through Samsung and SK Hynix. This move follows similar investments by competitors in Taiwan, China, and Japan, showing a regional race to increase production capacity.

Despite these strong profits, Samsung's stock price fell by 4% in Seoul on Tuesday. This reaction is similar to what happened with Nvidia, where record profits were met with investor worries about increasing competition. Nevertheless, the overall South Korean stock market, known as the Kospi index, has risen by over 80% this year, mainly because of the higher valuations of Samsung and SK Hynix.
