Security forces in Pakistan's Balochistan province fought a long battle against militants in the Ziarat district, which led to several deaths on both sides.

The incident began on Monday night when militants launched a planned attack on a police post near a dam project in the Mangi dam area of Ziarat. This fight lasted for about 20 hours and resulted in the deaths of nine police officers, including two high-ranking officers. Although eight police officers were kidnapped during the first part of the attack, security forces were later able to rescue all of them. In response, a joint operation involving paramilitary, police, and counter-terrorism units was carried out, which killed 15 militants.

It is still unclear which group was responsible for the attack. While no organization has officially claimed it, government spokesperson Shahid Rind asserted that the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) carried out the operation. On the other hand, other reports suggest that the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) may be involved, as they often target government buildings and security forces. This event follows a pattern of regional instability, including a June 29 attack in Karachi and recent violence against civilians near Quetta.

Furthermore, because the province borders Afghanistan and Iran, the security situation is more complex, meaning the government must continue using intelligence-based operations to reduce the influence of terrorist groups.
