Turkish and Iraqi officials have met in Baghdad to finish an energy transit agreement and increase economic cooperation between the two countries.

The main goal of the recent meeting was to stabilize oil exports. Minister Alparslan Bayraktar stated that a twelve-month agreement will soon be signed to ensure that crude oil continues to flow through the Iraq-Türkiye pipeline to the Ceyhan terminal. This plan depends on improving existing infrastructure and adding new connections.

At the same time, Prime Minister Ali al-Zaydi emphasized the need to diversify their partnership. The Iraqi government has proposed creating a special Türkiye-Iraq fund to attract investment, specifically for the farming and livestock sectors. Consequently, the Iraqi administration asserted that they are currently building the necessary infrastructure to encourage this foreign investment.
