The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has introduced new behavior guidelines and alcohol restrictions for the senior men's team following several disciplinary problems off the field.

These changes were caused by a series of behavioral mistakes during international tours. In January, the ECB first introduced a midnight curfew after an incident in Wellington involving Harry Brook and reports that Ben Duckett was intoxicated in Noosa. Despite these rules, confusion over how the curfew worked led to a nightclub incident in London involving Ben Stokes and Gus Atkinson. Consequently, both players missed the second Test match and were found to have broken their contracts, although they were not accused of violent behavior.

To improve player performance and protect the organization's reputation, the ECB has now created a stricter set of rules. A midnight curfew is now mandatory for all home series and tours. Furthermore, players must inform management or security if they leave their hotel after 22:00. Regarding alcohol, the ECB recommends that players avoid drinking from the day before a match until the day after it ends. While these are recommendations rather than strict bans, public intoxication and posting alcohol-related content on social media are strictly forbidden. Players cannot drink in public during these times unless they receive permission from Director of Cricket Rob Key or Head Coach Brendon McCullum.

The ECB has moved from unclear curfew rules to a formal system of alcohol recommendations and reporting requirements to avoid further damage to its reputation.
