The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has started a national campaign to demand accountability for the alleged theft of donations and construction errors at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. This move has led to strong denials from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Uttar Pradesh government.

The AAP, led by Arvind Kejriwal, has launched a nationwide signature campaign and organized religious events to gain public support for punishing those accused of stealing temple funds. Mr. Kejriwal emphasized that government failures have protected the criminals. He pointed to reports of seventy thefts recorded on CCTV over forty days and claimed that eight months of footage were deleted. Furthermore, he alleged that there were scams involving overpriced land and illegal commissions during the temple's construction. Consequently, the AAP has asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure the accused are punished by the law.

In response, the BJP has described these actions as political tricks. Delhi BJP leaders, including Harsh Malhotra and Amit Malviya, asserted that the AAP is using religion to attract voters before the Punjab Assembly elections. They called the campaign a "political gimmick" and noted that the AAP had stopped other similar religious programs in Delhi.

However, Uttar Pradesh Minister Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’ dismissed these remarks, arguing that Mr. Thackeray is simply trying to stay relevant in politics after losing support in Maharashtra.
