Four people have died in two separate water-related accidents in the states of Maharashtra and Punjab.

In the Raigad district, Gopal Ramlal Rathod and Vishnu Vilas Dhok died after ignoring official safety rules. The two men were part of a group of twenty people from Chakan MIDC. Although police at the Patnus T-point had clearly warned them about the dangers of the Devkund waterfall, the group used an illegal path through Mhasewadi village with the help of a local guide. Consequently, Mr. Dhok, who did not know how to swim, drowned, and Mr. Rathod also died while trying to rescue him. Search operations were temporarily stopped because it became too dark to see at night.

Meanwhile, in Dera Bassi, another incident occurred involving Surinder and Darshan during a fishing trip near the Ghaggar river. When Mr. Darshan began to struggle in the water, Mr. Surinder tried to save him; however, the strong river current swept both of them away. A third friend, Chanda, managed to survive by holding onto plants along the riverbank. The recovery of the bodies was delayed by about forty hours because the water was too powerful for divers to enter safely.

The bodies of the victims have either been recovered or are still being searched for by authorities.
