Russia and Ukraine have carried out a series of matching drone and missile strikes, causing several deaths and creating major problems for shipping in the Black and Azov Seas.

The current stage of the conflict shows an increase in Ukrainian long-range drone attacks into Russian territory. In the Moscow region, officials stated that many unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were stopped, although some got through, killing three people and injuring others in Istra. Similarly, strikes hit the Belgorod and Stavropol regions, where a fire broke out at an industrial site in Vyazniki. The Russian Ministry of Defense emphasized that they destroyed 342 UAVs across different areas, including Crimea.

At the same time, Russian military operations have targeted Ukrainian infrastructure and ships. In the Odesa region, attacks hit port facilities, homes, and a group of buses. Notably, a cargo ship from Togo was hit while unloading fertilizer, which resulted in the deaths of three crew members. Furthermore, Russian-controlled administrations in eastern and southern Ukraine reported that 13 civilians died after attacks on vehicles.

According to Ukrainian commanders, 105 vessels were damaged over eight days. This loss of shipping capacity has caused trade to almost stop, affecting about 25% of Russian wheat exports and forcing Russia to ban diesel exports until late July. Consequently, petrol prices in Crimea have reached record highs. Meanwhile, diplomatic meetings in Paris are trying to put pressure on the Kremlin, although U.S.-led efforts have slowed down because the U.S. is now focusing more on Iran.
