A devastating fire at the Flourish Stay B&B in Malviya Nagar, Delhi, has killed twenty-one people. The victims include several foreign nationals and eight members of the Aggarwal family.

Among the dead were Vivek Aggarwal, a chartered accountant, his wife Tarjini, their two daughters, and Hemlata Aggarwal. Three other relatives also died in the tragedy. Consequently, five family members were cremated in Gurugram, while three others were taken to Ajmer for their final rites.

Family members and officials emphasized that poor building design contributed to the high number of deaths. They asserted that the hotel lacked enough emergency exits, as there was only one staircase and one exit point. Furthermore, the use of iron grills on the windows and glass enclosures made it very difficult for people to escape. Preliminary reports confirm that there were serious fire-safety failures. Most victims died from burns or suffocation; for instance, reports indicate that Vivek Aggarwal was trapped in the basement before he died.
