A small aircraft from Austria crashed near Medulin, Croatia, and at least four people have been confirmed dead.

The accident happened around 11:20 local time in the Campanoz area, located between Kastijun and Medulin. The plane was a Bonanza G36, a high-performance single-engine model made by Textron Aviation. It was flying from Austria to the Medulin sports airport; however, as it approached its destination, the plane fell into a field where emergency services later found the wreckage.

Aviation expert Zeljko Marusic explained that the aircraft likely entered a 'spiral dive.' This is a dangerous situation where the plane loses altitude quickly while increasing its speed. Marusic emphasized that such events are usually caused by technical failures, pilot disorientation, or mistakes in speed estimation. Furthermore, because the plane was flying at a low altitude, the pilot had very little time or space to fix the problem and recover the aircraft. While four deaths are confirmed, there are unverified reports that two more passengers may have been on board.

An official investigation is now underway to find the exact cause of the crash.
