The British government is preparing to release a detailed Defence Investment Plan (DIP) to deal with growing global threats and to modernize its military equipment.

Consequently, the military needs to move away from preparing for short, local missions and instead focus on long-term, high-intensity conflicts, similar to the war in Ukraine. To achieve this, the government plans to prioritize investments in drones and autonomous technology.

Despite these delays, the administration intends to publish the DIP before the NATO summit in Turkey on July 7. Industry experts believe this timeline is necessary to give private companies the certainty they need to invest in defense production.

These experts suggest that the UK needs a 'whole-of-society' approach to rebuild its military strength, a view shared by German military leaders.
