Cyberattack Attempts Target CBSE Post-Result Systems

Introduction

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has reported several coordinated cyberattacks on its re-evaluation portal after the Class XII results were released.

Main Body

The board delayed the launch of the grievance portal from May 29 to June 2 to improve security. However, the system immediately faced a massive surge in traffic. On June 3, the board recorded about 3.8 million malicious data packets, while the initial launch saw 1.5 million requests and over 100,000 unauthorized attempts to enter the system in just two minutes. The board described these as Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks coming from various local and international addresses. They emphasized that these attacks were intended to crash the platform and potentially steal sensitive information.

At the same time, the board faced criticism regarding its Onscreen Marking (OSM) system due to reports of missing pages and unchecked answers. Consequently, the Ministry of Education began reviewing how vendors were chosen and how they performed. This situation led to changes in leadership, including the appointment of Prashant Lokhande as Chairman and Varun Bhardwaj as Secretary. To fix these technical problems, the board is now working with IIT Kanpur and IIT Madras to conduct full audits.

To handle the cyberattacks, the CBSE contacted the Delhi Police's IFSO Unit. They also received support from agencies such as CERT-In and the Digital India Corporation. Despite the scale of the attacks, the board asserted that its security systems kept the service running and confirmed that no student data was stolen.

Conclusion

The CBSE is continuing to monitor its systems and is working with law enforcement and universities to protect the re-evaluation process.

🚀 The "Action-Reaction" Chain

To move from A2 (simple sentences) to B2 (complex flow), you need to stop writing separate facts and start linking causes to results.

Look at this sequence from the text:

"The board delayed the launch... However, the system immediately faced a massive surge in traffic."

The B2 Secret: The Logical Pivot An A2 student says: "The board changed the date. The system had many users." (This is a list, not a story).

A B2 student uses Contrast Connectors to show a conflict between an action and a result.

🛠️ Tools for the Transition

ConnectorEffectExample from Article
HoweverShifts the direction (Unexpected result)Delayed launch \rightarrow However \rightarrow massive surge
ConsequentlyDirect logical result (The "Therefore" effect)Errors in marking \rightarrow Consequently \rightarrow Ministry review
DespiteShows strength against a problemHuge attacks \rightarrow Despite this \rightarrow service kept running

💡 Pro-Tip: The "B2 Upgrade" Logic

Instead of using "And" or "But" for everything, try this mental map:

  1. Action: The CBSE contacted the police.
  2. Reason: To handle cyberattacks.
  3. B2 Upgrade: "To handle the cyberattacks, the CBSE contacted the Delhi Police."

Notice how moving the purpose ("To handle...") to the front of the sentence instantly makes you sound more professional and fluent.
