Target has recalled specific batches of Up & Up brand baby wipes after discovering potentially harmful bacteria in the products.

The recall was caused by a combination of customer reports and official testing. Target and the manufacturer, Sapro Temizlik Urunleri, were notified that some wipes had changed color and caused skin and eye irritation. Furthermore, tests conducted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) confirmed that two types of bacteria, Burkholderia cepacia complex and Burkholderia gladioli, were present in the samples.

Health experts emphasized that while healthy adults might only experience minor skin infections, the risk is much higher for newborns, infants, and people with weak immune systems. In these cases, the bacteria could enter the bloodstream, which might lead to serious conditions such as pneumonia or life-threatening sepsis.

健康專家強調，雖然健康成年人可能僅出現輕微皮膚感染，但對於新生兒、嬰幼兒以及免疫系統較弱的人來說，風險要高得多。在這些情況下，細菌可能會進入血液，導致肺炎或危及生命的敗血症等嚴重病症。

This recall affects two versions of the product sold across the country in stores and online. The Fragrance Free wipes include packs from 20 to 1200 count produced between November 7, 2025, and May 5, 2026. The Fresh Cucumber Scented wipes include packs from 72 to 800 count produced on December 29 and 30, 2025. Consequently, all affected customers are eligible for a full refund if they return the items to Target.

The affected products have been taken off the shelves, and consumers are advised to stop using them immediately.
