The game was finally decided in the seventh inning when Hailey Kerchner scored the winning run after a throwing error. AJ Howarth also helped the team by recording four hits. Additionally, Oak Park Fenwick took third place in the IHSA Class 3A competition by beating Dunlap 1-0. Even though Dunlap's Sutton Centoni played almost perfectly with 11 strikeouts, a mistake in the sixth inning and a hit by Sophia Leonardi allowed the only run of the match.
