Robert William Packwood, a former Republican senator from Oregon, has died at the age of 93 in Rancho Mirage, California.

His career began to collapse in November 1992 after reports of sexual misconduct were published. An investigation by the Senate Ethics Committee later revealed a pattern of abusing his power, including at least 18 unwanted sexual advances toward his staff. Additionally, the investigation found that he had misused his office to get consulting fees for his wife and had changed his personal diaries to hide evidence. Consequently, after the Ethics Committee recommended his removal, Packwood resigned in September 1995.
