The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) and other local government bodies are currently working to fix systemic failures in sanitation, drainage, and water distribution across several sectors.

Infrastructure damage is very clear in Sector 69, especially along an 800-metre section of Kushal Chowk Road. This road is a vital link to the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR), but it is currently plagued by stagnant wastewater, open manholes, and broken pavements. Local residents claim that the increase in high-density rental housing has grown faster than the capacity of the existing sanitation systems. However, the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) asserted that these failures are caused by poor disposal channels on private roads and illegal sewer connections. Although a large master sewer line has been installed along the SPR, it cannot be fully used until legal disputes affecting Sectors 69 and 70 are resolved.

To prepare for the monsoon season, the GMDA has started several preventative measures. After cleaning 70% of the 120km drain network, they will use robotic surveys after June 15 to find structural blockages. Furthermore, to prevent flooding, the authority plans to deploy 40 pumps by June 30, supported by CCTV monitoring and 24-hour staffing. The GMDA has also coordinated with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to synchronize waste and drainage operations across the Delhi NCR region.

At the same time, efforts to improve water security are happening in Sectors 42, 43, 53, 54, and 55. After a survey confirmed that water supply was insufficient at the edge of the network, the GMDA proposed a new pipeline from the Sector 51 boosting station, which should be finished by June next year. Additionally, the Sector 72 boosting station will soon be activated, and old structures at the Basai water treatment plant will be demolished to make room for a new 100 MLD expansion unit.

The city is moving from quick repairs to long-term systemic upgrades, although legal problems continue to delay the resolution of local sanitation crises.
