Main Body
The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) held written exams for 32,679 constable positions from June 8 to June 10. On the first day, 723,540 candidates attended, which was a 75.15% attendance rate, and this figure rose slightly to 76.10% on the second day. Although the process was generally orderly, the UPPRPB took legal action in ten cases. These cases involved spreading false information on social media, using banned electronic devices, and using fake IDs to impersonate others. Furthermore, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) carried out 'Operation Shikanja,' which led to the arrest of three people involved in a 2018 recruitment scam where exam sheets were manipulated.

Vocabulary Learning
🚀 Moving from 'What Happened' to 'How it Happened'
At the A2 level, you usually describe events using simple verbs: "The police arrested a man." To reach B2, you need to describe the nature of the action using a mix of precise verbs and complex nouns.
💡 The Power of "Official Verbs"
Look at how the text describes police work. It doesn't just say "did" or "caught." It uses words that specify the legal process:
- Detained (Stronger than 'stopped') Held someone in custody.
- Impersonate (Better than 'pretend to be') To pretend to be another person for a crime.
- Manipulated (Better than 'changed') Changed data or documents dishonestly.
🛠️ The "B2 Connector" Strategy
To stop sounding like a beginner, avoid starting every sentence with "And" or "Then." The text uses Transition Adverbs to guide the reader. Try these in your own speaking:
Furthermore... (Use this when you want to add a second, more important point). Meanwhile... (Use this to describe two things happening at the same time in different places). Additionally... (Use this to add a new fact to a list).
🔍 Anatomy of a B2 Sentence
Compare these two ways of saying the same thing:
A2 Style: A man killed his daughters. He is hiding now. He had a fight with his family. B2 Style: A 50-year-old man is hiding after allegedly killing his two daughters because of family disagreements.
What changed?
- The Word "Allegedly": This is a 'magic' B2 word. It means "people say it happened, but it isn't proven in court yet." Using this makes you sound professional and objective.
- Cause and Effect: Instead of three short sentences, we used "after" and "because of" to glue the ideas together into one fluid thought.
