Authorities in Bikaner, Rajasthan, have started a formal investigation after six women developed serious medical complications following cesarean section surgeries at PBM Hospital.

The affected women, aged between 20 and 27, suffered from severe bleeding, systemic infections, and kidney failure. These events are similar to a previous case in Kota, where five women died after experiencing sudden organ failure within ten hours of surgery.

There are different views regarding the cause of these complications. The administration of Sardar Patel Medical College and the district magistrate have ordered a full report to find the exact cause. However, Hospital Superintendent Dr. B.C. Ghiya disagreed with the comparison to the Kota incident, asserting that some patients already had health problems or arrived at the hospital in critical condition. Furthermore, Dr. Santosh Khajotia suggested that excessive blood loss during or after surgery, rather than just infection, may have caused the kidney failure.

In response, the hospital has assigned a team of specialists in kidney health, gynecology, and internal medicine to manage the recovery process.
