The 2026 World Endurance Championship will hold its third round at the Circuit de la Sarthe from June 10 to 14, with a total of 62 cars participating.

The event schedule begins on Wednesday with the first practice and qualifying sessions. This is followed by a special Hyperpole session on Thursday to determine the starting grid. In the Hypercar category, 18 cars from eight different manufacturers will compete. There is a strong rivalry between the current champion, Ferrari, and Toyota, which has completely updated its TR010 Hybrid prototype. Other key competitors include Cadillac, Alpine, and BMW.

Beyond the technical competition, the event is being used for national strategic growth. Team Qatar is making its debut in the LMGT3 class in partnership with Iron Lynx. The Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation emphasized that this is a planned move to shift from regional rally success toward international circuit racing. This initiative is part of a larger sports strategy, although regional instability involving Iran and the Gulf has forced the rescheduling of other major races at the Lusail circuit.

For example, Jamie Chadwick became the first woman to complete a Hypercar lap of the circuit as a reserve for the Genesis Magma team. Similarly, Doriane Pin and Lilou Wadoux are still competing in the LMP2 and GT3 categories, with the goal of moving up to the Hypercar class.
