Burleigh Pottery, a famous ceramics company located in Stoke-on-Trent, has been bought by former Burberry executive Christopher Bailey and a group of private investors.

This acquisition happened after the parent company, Denby, went bankrupt in March. Although the British government provided a £120 million support package for the industry, this help arrived too late for Denby and other closed firms like Royal Stafford.

Founded in 1851, Burleigh Pottery is the only Victorian pottery in the world that still uses the 'tissue transfer' printing method. This difficult process involves engraving copper rollers by hand to put nature-based designs onto clay. Because this method requires so much skill and time, the final products are sold at a high price in the market.
