1. The "Contrast" Bridge (However)
Instead of just saying something is different, the text uses "however" to pivot the story:
...claimed responsibility for the attack; however, authorities are still verifying if this claim is true.
B2 Tip: Use however instead of but when you want to sound more formal and academic. Put it after a semicolon or at the start of a new sentence followed by a comma.
2. The "Result" Trigger (Consequently)
A2 students use so. B2 students use "consequently" to show a logical effect:
...a woman standing nearby was also injured... Consequently, the Haryana police are investigating several possible motives.
B2 Tip: Consequently tells the reader: "Because of the fact I just mentioned, this next thing happened." It creates a chain of logic.
3. The "While" Sync (While)
To describe two things happening at the exact same time, use "while" to merge two sentences into one complex thought:
