The United States Department of Justice has approved the purchase of Warner Bros. Discovery by Paramount Skydance, although the deal still needs to be reviewed by state authorities and international regulators.

Consequently, if the California office finds that the merger breaks antitrust laws, it may ask a court to block the deal or demand specific changes.

There are worries that having CNN and CBS under one company would give too much control over the news. It is also worth noting that Netflix previously tried to bid $72 billion for the company but withdrew its offer in February.
