🚀 The 'Connection' Jump: Moving from Simple to Sophisticated

At the A2 level, you probably use and, but, and because to connect your ideas. To reach B2, you need Logical Connectors. These are words that act like road signs, telling the reader exactly how two ideas relate.

🔍 Spotting the 'B2 Markers' in the Text

Look at how the article moves from one sport to another. It doesn't just say "and then." It uses specific transition words:

  • Meanwhile \rightarrow Used when two things happen at the same time in different places. (Example: St. Xavier won in Ohio; meanwhile, teams were preparing in Massachusetts.)
  • Additionally \rightarrow A professional way to say "also." Use this to add a new point to your argument.
  • Consequently \rightarrow This replaces "so." It shows a direct result. (Example: They won the game; consequently, they are in the final.)

🛠️ The Upgrade Path

Try swapping your basic words for these "Bridge Words" to sound more fluent:

SoConsequentlyUse when the second part is a logical result.

💡 Pro Tip: The Comma Power

Notice a pattern? Whenever we use Consequently, Additionally, or Meanwhile at the start of a sentence, we always put a comma immediately after them.

Wrong: Consequently they won.\text{Consequently they won.} Right: Consequently, they won.\text{Consequently, they won.}
