Nara Organics has started a voluntary recall of its whole milk organic powdered infant formula because three infants were hospitalized with botulism.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) found a link between the use of Nara Organics formula and botulism in three infants aged two to five months. These cases happened in April and May 2026 in California, Washington, and Pennsylvania. Fortunately, all three infants were treated with a medication called BabyBIG and recovered. The product is made in Europe and sold in the U.S. through Target and Nara.com. Although tests on the product samples have not yet found the botulism bacteria, the company is recalling all whole milk powdered versions.

Health officials emphasized that parents should watch for symptoms such as muscle weakness, breathing problems, and difficulty swallowing. Furthermore, the CDC advised consumers to keep opened containers for thirty days to help with the investigation. Regarding the market, the FDA asserted that this recall will not cause a general shortage of infant formula because this product makes up less than one percent of the U.S. market. This situation is similar to a previous case with the brand ByHeart, which caused over 50 illnesses, highlighting the ongoing risks for infants' developing digestive systems.
