Police departments in Melbourne and Los Angeles recently removed dangerous materials from private homes to ensure public safety.

In Northcote, Melbourne, authorities had to evacuate Merri Park after dynamite was found in a storage area of a deceased person's estate. To handle the situation, police used a bomb-disposal robot and received help from the State Emergency Service, who provided sandbags. Between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM, two controlled explosions were carried out to destroy the materials, which had been stored there for many years. Victoria Police emphasized that there was no criminal activity involved and that the public was never in danger.

Meanwhile, in Compton, California, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department recovered military weapons from two different homes. First, a hand grenade from World War II was found in the Nickerson Gardens area; however, experts later determined that the device was inert and could not explode. In a second case on North Chester Avenue, another device found in an attic was also declared safe. The Camp Pendleton Explosive Detail helped remove this item. Consequently, residents in several blocks had to leave their homes temporarily until the area was officially declared safe.
