India and Slovakia Strengthen Ties with New Comprehensive Partnership

Introduction

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Slovakia on an official state visit. This trip led to the upgrade of diplomatic relations to a Comprehensive Partnership and the signing of several important strategic agreements.

Main Body

The improvement in relations was confirmed during meetings between Prime Minister Modi and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico. A key part of this change is the effort to increase economic cooperation, especially through the India-European Union Free Trade Agreement. Prime Minister Fico emphasized that lowering taxes on cars would be very beneficial for Slovakia's industrial sector. Consequently, both countries agreed to strengthen the India-Slovakia Joint Economic Committee to find new opportunities in advanced manufacturing, railways, and green technology.

Security and technology are also major parts of this new agreement. The two nations signed a Letter of Intent on defense cooperation to encourage joint production. Furthermore, they created a Joint Working Group on Counter-Terrorism, and both leaders condemned the terror attack in Pahalgam in April 2025. To improve technological ties, they signed agreements on digital infrastructure and artificial intelligence, which includes creating a special AI position at the Technical University of Kosice.

Finally, the two countries addressed the movement of workers through an agreement on labor migration to make it easier for skilled professionals to work abroad. In terms of global politics, Slovakia reaffirmed its support for India to have a permanent seat on the UN Security Council. Additionally, cultural ties were strengthened by translating the Upanishads into Slovak and organizing art exhibitions in Bratislava.

Conclusion

The visit ended with Prime Minister Modi receiving the Order of the White Double Cross, which symbolizes the official growth of strategic, economic, and technological cooperation between the two nations.

The Logic of 'Connectors'

At the A2 level, you likely use and, but, and because. To reach B2, you need to stop simply listing facts and start showing the relationship between ideas. This article uses professional 'bridge words' that change the flow of a sentence.

⚡ The 'Result' Bridge

Instead of saying "Something happened, and then this happened," use Consequently.

  • Example from text: "...lowering taxes on cars would be very beneficial... Consequently, both countries agreed to strengthen the Joint Economic Committee."
  • B2 Logic: Consequently tells the reader that the second action is a direct result of the first. It is a more formal, sophisticated version of "so."

🚀 The 'Addition' Bridge

When adding a new point, avoid repeating also. Use Furthermore or Additionally to signal that you are building a stronger argument.

  • Text Evidence: "Furthermore, they created a Joint Working Group..." / "Additionally, cultural ties were strengthened..."
  • B2 Logic: These words act as signposts. They tell the listener: "I have finished one point, and now I am adding another important one."
