On June 14, 2026, two helicopters collided in the air over the western part of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Unfortunately, all six people on board were killed in the accident.

The crash happened in the Recreio dos Bandeirantes area around 09:00 local time. According to the Rio de Janeiro Military Fire Department, one helicopter was carrying five people, while the other had only a pilot. After the collision, the aircraft fell into a car dealership parking lot, which started a large fire that affected about 20 electric vehicles. Lieutenant Colonel Fabio Contreiras emphasized that the lithium-ion batteries in the cars made the fire much more intense, meaning firefighters needed more water to put it out. Furthermore, the wreckage was spread over several hundred meters, which made the initial investigation more difficult.

Official records identify the victims as American musician Oliver Tree, Argentine content creator Gaspar Prim Díaz (known as Gaspi), Lucas Vignale, Lucas Brito Chaves, and pilots Alexandre Souza and Charles Marsillac. Consequently, the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro and the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) are now working with the Center for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (CENIPA) to find the cause of the crash. The case is currently being handled by the 42nd Police Precinct.

Mr. Tree, 32, was on a world tour for his fourth album, 'Love You Madly, Hate You Badly,' and had recently played shows in São Paulo and Buenos Aires. He was well-known for mixing alternative pop with digital satire, which led to great commercial success. Additionally, Tree had started a foundation called 'Dr. Oliver Tree's Art Grants for Baby Geniuses' and had requested in his will that his future earnings go to other artists instead of his family.

Investigations into the aviation accident are still continuing as authorities finish the formal identification process for all victims.
