The Ridglan Farms breeding facility in Wisconsin has stopped its operations. As a result, the remaining 475 beagles are being moved to rescue organizations for medical care and adoption.

The closure of Ridglan Farms follows a long period of legal battles and public protests. Trump and Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. However, animal welfare organizations asserted that the closure was the result of years of activism and legal work. The transfer of the dogs is being managed by Big Dog Ranch Rescue, a nonprofit based in Florida. This group previously helped remove 1,500 beagles through a financial deal with the owners.

This event is part of a larger national trend to reduce animal testing, similar to the 2022 rescue of 4,000 beagles from the Envigo facility in Virginia. Consequently, Congressman Mark Pocan noted that while the closure is positive, the government still needs stronger oversight to prevent regulatory violations.
