The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi has ordered several security improvements in public transport and schools to make the city safer for women and children.

The government's plan focuses on increasing police presence within the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC). Specifically, female police officers and home guard marshals will be placed on thirty 'Ladies Special' bus routes that have the most passengers. Furthermore, the panic buttons on these buses will be connected directly to the 112 emergency system to ensure that police can respond immediately. To support these efforts, the Delhi Police will also set up all-women police stations in every district to handle complaints from women and children more effectively.

Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu has ordered a full review of all government and private schools to ensure they follow safety laws. Schools must now create child protection committees, perform background checks on staff, and run awareness campaigns for students. Consequently, any school that does not follow these rules will face disciplinary action. Additionally, police will increase patrols around schools during the time students are leaving to prevent any illegal activity.
