President Karol Nawrocki of Poland has officially taken back the Order of the White Eagle, the country's highest award, from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. This decision follows a disagreement over the name of a Ukrainian military unit.

President Nawrocki emphasized that honoring this group is unacceptable given the 100,000 Polish victims of these crimes.

He warned that Russia could use these historical arguments to weaken their alliance. On the other hand, other political figures, such as former President Lech Walesa, supported the removal of the award, viewing the Ukrainian action as an insult to Polish history.

Furthermore, he stated that Poland will continue to provide security support to Ukraine against Russian aggression.
