This group includes 32 men and 12 women between the ages of 30 and 70, as well as four liaison officers and one doctor. The pilgrims come from various parts of India, including Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh. Before the group crossed the border, Chief Secretary R Telang carried out a detailed check of the local infrastructure. He reviewed medical facilities, electricity, water supplies, road conditions, traffic control, and customs procedures. Furthermore, the Chief Secretary confirmed that all participants had passed their final medical exams. He emphasized that the state's main responsibilities are to provide security, medical support, and help with the border crossing.

This site is spiritually important for people of several faiths, including Hindus, Buddhists, and Jains.

Vocabulary Learning

⚡ The "B2 Shift": From Simple Lists to Sophisticated Flow

At an A2 level, you likely describe things using simple sentences: "The Secretary checked the roads. He checked the water. He checked the medical facilities."

To reach B2, you need to group information to create a professional flow. Look at this sentence from the text:

"He reviewed medical facilities, electricity, water supplies, road conditions, traffic control, and customs procedures."

The Secret: The 'Comprehensive List' Technique Instead of five short sentences, the author uses one strong verb (reviewed) and a long list of nouns. This shows the reader that the action was thorough.

🛠️ Upgrade Your Vocabulary

Stop using "check" for everything. Depending on the context, B2 students use more precise verbs:

  • Review \rightarrow To look at something officially to see if it is correct or ready.
  • Manage \rightarrow To be in charge of a complex process (like the Ministry manages the trip).
  • Emphasize \rightarrow To make a specific point very clear because it is important.

🧠 Logic Bridge: Using "Furthermore"

Notice how the text moves from what was checked to who was checked. It uses the word "Furthermore".

  • A2 Way: "He checked the roads. Also, the people were healthy."
  • B2 Way: "He reviewed the infrastructure. Furthermore, he confirmed that all participants had passed their medical exams."

Pro Tip: Use Furthermore when you want to add a new, important piece of evidence to your argument. It sounds much more academic than "And" or "Also."
