Six employees of a residential care facility for mothers and children were killed on Monday in Stade, northern Germany, during an incident linked to a parental custody dispute.

Law enforcement intercepted the vehicle after a brief pursuit, during which officers discharged firearms; however, no injuries were sustained by the occupants. Both individuals are currently in custody, with a formal arrest warrant pending for the primary suspect. Preliminary investigations indicate that the perpetrator lacked a firearms license and, despite a prior police record involving threats, had not been categorized as a violent offender.
