The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) reported a record 8,683 anti-Muslim complaints in 2025, while the ICSD experienced an increase in campus-based harassment and social media hostility.

Although authorities had previously seized firearms from the Vazquez residence, the perpetrators managed to acquire a significant arsenal, including 30 firearms and a crossbow. Consequently, CAIR San Diego has criticized the municipal leadership and the Department of Homeland Security for a perceived lack of adequate security funding and institutional support for Muslim congregations.
