By transforming the verb "promote" into the noun phrase "promotional ascent," the writer achieves an objective, journalistic distance. The focus is no longer on the team's movement, but on the status of the achievement itself.

◤ Lexical Precision & 'Institutional' Register

C2 mastery requires a vocabulary that describes systemic or structural states rather than just events. Note the use of:

• Institutional instability: Rather than saying "the club was a mess," the author uses a sociopolitical term to categorize the chaos.
• Fiscal scrutiny: A precise replacement for "money problems," moving the discourse into the realm of auditing and law.
• Institutional viability: This transforms the simple goal of "staying in the league" into a question of long-term organizational survival.

At the C2 level, causality is rarely expressed with "so" or "because." It is embedded in the structure of the sentence via Nominal Modifiers:
