Law enforcement authorities in Pune have initiated legal proceedings against three individuals following the suicide of a long-term employee of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).

The legal action commenced on June 9, following a complaint lodged by the 19-year-old son of the deceased, a 48-year-old professional with over a decade of tenure at TCS. The Bhosari police have booked three suspects—two TCS employees, identified as Archana and Shashwati (one of whom served as the victim's reporting manager), and a family acquaintance, Vinod Palicha—under Sections 108 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). These charges pertain to the abetment of suicide and the commission of criminal acts by multiple persons with a shared objective.

The deceased alleged that the two TCS employees subjected him to public humiliation, the arbitrary removal of critical project assignments, and the denial of leave during his spouse's oncological treatment. Furthermore, the victim reported being pressured to resign under the threat of adverse performance evaluations. Parallel to these professional grievances, the victim's distress was allegedly exacerbated by Mr. Palicha, who is not affiliated with TCS. It is alleged that Palicha attributed his marital dissolution to the victim and subsequently initiated legal proceedings involving accusations of theft and cheating at the Hinjewadi police station.

This incident occurs amidst a broader context of institutional scrutiny for the organization. Approximately two months prior, a TCS-affiliated business process outsourcing unit in Nashik was the subject of nine First Information Reports. These cases, involving allegations of sexual harassment and religious coercion, resulted in the chargesheeting of eight employees, who currently remain in judicial custody. While the current investigation in Pune is ongoing, no arrests have been formalized at this stage.
