Two Australian mining entities, Critica Limited and Barkly Rare Earths, are currently advancing the development and exploration of rare earth, tin, tungsten, and vanadium deposits through technical optimization and government-supported funding.

Critica Limited is executing a dual-asset strategy involving the Jupiter project in Western Australia and the Mt Lindsay project in Tasmania. At Jupiter, the company has concluded a resource optimization program utilizing 145 infill drill holes. Metallurgical processing has demonstrated a recovery rate of 81% for magnet rare earth oxides (MREO) and the production of a mixed rare earth carbonate with 58% total rare earth oxides (TREO). Furthermore, the project contains 70,000 tonnes of gallium, with a 63% extraction rate reported. Concurrently, the Mt Lindsay project, containing 81,000 tonnes of tin and 32,000 tonnes of tungsten, is being reassessed as a low-impact underground operation. Critica has integrated into the US Defense Industrial Base Consortium (DIBC) and secured $300,000 in non-dilutive government funding. Scoping studies for both assets are anticipated in the third quarter of the current year.

Barkly Rare Earths, recently listed on the ASX following an A$8 million IPO, is focusing on its namesake project in the Northern Territory. The asset possesses an inferred resource of 40 million tonnes at 2100 ppm TREO, with magnet rare earths constituting 34% of the total. The company has secured two separate A$115,000 grants from the Northern Territory Government's Geophysics and Drilling Collaborations programme to facilitate metallurgical testing and a 1200-metre stratigraphic drilling campaign. The project's sedimentary-hosted mineralization is characterized by low processing requirements. Additionally, the site hosts a 200-million-tonne vanadium resource. Exploration targets are estimated between 200 million and one billion tonnes.
