Sheriff William Honsal emphasized that while about 900 animals were moved to the facility over five and a half years, only 100 adoptions were confirmed. This means 730 animals are missing. Meanwhile, the facility charged fees ranging from hundreds to thousands of dollars for each animal transfer. In response, founder Shannon Miranda asserted that the sanctuary is a 'no-kill' facility and denied that animals were put down to make space, claiming euthanasia only happened in rare cases of terminal illness or safety risks.
