To say someone did not do something, use this simple formula: Did not + Action (Normal form)

(Notice we don't say "did not wanted". The "did" already tells us it is the past!)

The B2 Shift: Instead of saying "So...", use Consequently. It tells the listener: "Because of the events I just mentioned, this specific result happened."

Instead of starting every sentence with "Also", try these phrases found in the text:

• Furthermore: Use this when you are adding a second, stronger point to your argument.
  • Example: "The hotel was expensive. Furthermore, it was very far from the beach."
• Regarding: Use this to switch the topic smoothly to a specific subject.
  • Example: "Regarding the meeting tomorrow, I will bring the reports."

💡 Pro Tip: The 'Contrast' Trick

Notice the use of Although:

*"...although Portis mentioned that he was born in 1995..."

In A2, we use "But" in the middle of a sentence. In B2, we start with Although to show that two pieces of information are surprising when put together. It creates a more complex, elegant sentence structure.

While a B2 student views the provided text as "formal," a C2 master recognizes it as an exercise in Lexical Over-extension. The author has deliberately replaced common athletic terminology with high-register, Latinate abstractions to create a clinical, almost bureaucratic tone.
